Devin Hansen keeps a pretty busy schedule. On top of his eventful job as President of Sunflower Travel Corporation, Devin is involved in numerous community organizations including: Chair of Go Wichita!, district chairman for the High Plains District of the Boy Scouts of America, Wichita Wagonmasters and the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce, to name a few.
But, for Riverfest 2010, Hansen will have to abandon his normally busy schedule for an even busier one, as he takes on the position of Admiral Windwagon Smith XXXVII.
“This is an honor for me to serve as the Admiral for Riverfest 2010‚” Devin said.”
Devin has been involved with Riverfest and Wichita Festivals for more than 15 years, beginning with the merchandise committee in 1994. Since then, Devin has served as General Chair of the Riverfest Operations Committee and Chair of the Wichita Festivals Board of Directors. This year, he will tackle a new role serving as the Admiral.
“I’ve spent a lot of time with the Festivals and I’ve been around numerous Admirals,” Devin said. “I’ve admired every one of them and never thought I’d be the one in the suit someday. But I’m extremely honored to have been asked and to be apart of this year’s Riverfest in this capacity.”
When he is not busy with Riverfest or his other community organizations, Devin finds time to enjoy some of his favorite hobbies: racquetball, cooking and of course, traveling.
Devin and his wife Lisa, who happens to work at Wichita Festivals, Inc. as the Vice President of Finance and met Devin through his festival volunteering, rack up the frequent flyer miles on a yearly basis. Devin and Lisa have traveled all over the United States and Europe, the Caribbean, the Bahamas and have a trip to Belize and Argentina planned for later this year.
Out of all of his travels, Devin said he can’t nail down a
favorite destination.
“I want to keep going places until I can determine where my favorite destination is,” Devin said.
Wichita Festivals is thrilled to have Devin serving as Admiral Windwagon Smith XXXVII and, though his hard work ethic will be missed on the operations side of Riverfest, his outgoing personality and love for the Festival will make him an
Admiral hit!
